Bat Warranty
Important Information When Purchasing a Cricket Bat
Cricket bats are crafted from natural willow and endure the tough job of striking a hard cricket ball repeatedly. Because of this, certain characteristics and wear are completely normal. Please take note of the following:
-
Natural Material: Being made of willow, your bat will not look brand new forever. Small cracks are inevitable and part of the game.
-
Cracks:
-
Cracks can appear during the knocking-in process. This does not necessarily mean the bat is faulty.
-
Minor cracks are normal and usually do not affect performance. They can often be sanded down.
-
Cracks may also be due to insufficient knocking-in, soft willow, or improper preparation.
-
-
Lifespan: The durability of a bat depends on usage and care.
-
Protection: We highly recommend using an anti-scuff sheet and toe guard for extra protection and longer life.
-
Preparation: Some bats may require more or less preparation than initially suggested. Knocking-in time is a guideline, not a guarantee. Even after 20+ hours, a bat may not be ready if knocking-in is not done correctly.
-
Price vs Longevity: A higher price does not always mean a longer lifespan. Premium bats are made from softer willow, which can deliver superior performance but may wear faster than lower-grade willow.
Bat Warranty Does Not Cover
-
Yorker damage to the toe
-
Damage from lack of proper knocking-in, preparation, or maintenance (e.g. no toe guard, over/under oiling)
-
Damage caused by moisture or heat (e.g. wet weather, car boot, direct sunlight)
-
Damage from non-leather or composite balls (including bowling machines)
-
Misuse, such as hitting stumps, the ground, or any non-cricket object
Bat Warranty Process
-
Warranties are goodwill agreements offered by manufacturers to cover genuine manufacturing faults. Final decisions rest with the manufacturer.
-
Bats with broken handles, major cracks, or other eligible faults may be sent back to the manufacturer for repair.
-
Average turnaround: 15 - 30 working days.
-
If a bat cannot be repaired to a reasonable standard, it may be replaced at the manufacturer’s discretion.
-
Replacement handles do not affect bat performance.
-
Courier costs for warranty claims are the responsibility of the customer.
Playing In
-
After knocking-in, start by using the bat for short catches and throw-downs with an old, good-quality ball.
-
Avoid new balls in nets or matches until the bat has been played in.
-
Impact damage (yorker toe cracks, shoulder cracks, edge cracks) can occur even with proper preparation and are part of normal wear and tear.
Terms of Bat Repair / Replacement
-
Moisture damage (swelling, dampness at toe): not a manufacturing defect. No replacement.
-
Edge or toe cracks: normal for natural willow. Can be repaired at customer’s expense.
-
Handle breaks: if deemed a manufacturing fault, the handle will be replaced, not the bat.
-
Shoulder cracks: usually caused by mis-hits. Not a manufacturing defect.
-
Surface cracks: normal for natural willow. Repair at customer’s expense.
-
Blade cracks across the face: may be considered a manufacturing defect and eligible for replacement within 3 months of purchase (manufacturer’s discretion).
-
No manufacturer offers a fixed time warranty on bats due to the nature of the product and the sport.
Reminder: Cricket bats are natural products, and performance always comes with wear. Proper preparation, care, and protection are the best ways to maximize your bat’s life
